TURNOVER TEAM

Summary: If you love the satisfaction of a clean space, this job is for you! As soon as a family moves out of Family Village and into housing, we prepare the space for the next incoming family. Unfortunately, the shelter waitlist has hundreds of families waiting. Our goal is to rapidly get a unit cleaned, repaired, and stocked for the next family. Tasks primarily include deep cleaning and occasional light maintenance (painting, patching holes, etc.). As a final step, we make the beds and stock it with all the home necessities.

Shifts: This is an on-call position, often with only 24-48 hours notice. They are often weekday shifts, between 11am-6pm for a flexible duration. Even one hour is helpful!

  • What does “on-call” mean? It means you are open to being notified when we have a need. You can say yes or no depending on your schedule.

  • How do I sign up to be on-call? Log into your Volunteer Portal, go to your Profile tab in the upper right corner, scroll down to On-Call Volunteers and select Turnover Team. You can change your on-call preferences at any time.

The Nitty Gritty:

  • Path Home provides gloves and all the cleaning supplies.

  • Refer to the checklist, marking off completed tasks and noting where repairs are needed (ex. Hole in upstairs front bedroom)

  • When possible, focus efforts in the same area, instead of completing multiple tasks over different areas.

  • This role entails frequent kneeling, stooping, reaching, or carrying. Please reach out if you have concerns.

  • Where comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Sometimes painting clothes may be needed. You will be busy and will warm up quickly!

  • Each turnover can take anywhere from 4-8 hours to complete, so no worries if the unit is not completely finished – another Turnover Team volunteer or a Path Home staff member will finish.

  • Bring a friend! They do not need to be a registered volunteer. Inquire with Bethany beforehand.

Requirements:

  • Wear closed toe shoes.

  • Bring a water bottle.
