Housing First Program
Path Home helps families experiencing homelessness move quickly back into homes. We believe that housing is a human right, and we subscribe to the Housing First Philosophy. Our Housing First Program has two components: Rapid Rehousing and Case Management. Access to our Housing First services is managed through 211.org.
Case Management
We help families keep their housing long-term. We provide support to families for 12 months after they move into housing. We help families create action plans to balance their budget, connect to their new community, increase their income by getting jobs and education, and learn new skills they can use to keep their housing.
Rapid Rehousing
We help families move quickly back into permanent housing, usually within a couple of months of meeting them. Most families move into market rate apartments. Path Home helps families pay security deposits and up to 12 months of rent assistance to help families settle into their new homes.
“We absolutely love it in our new home. I’m just really grateful. This wouldn’t be possible in a million years without Path Home and for that I’m forever thankful!”
Homelessness Prevention
A federal reserve study from 2017 revealed that 40% of Americans couldn’t come up with $400 in an emergency if they had to. It is this exact lack of a safety net that sends working parents into a tailspin when unexpected costs arise.
If it weren’t for Path Home’s prevention program, hundreds of kids and their parents would lose their homes and experience homelessness. But instead, kids get to keep their bedtime routines, have a consistent place to eat dinner, and don’t even know they were about to be homeless.
“Working with Path Home was a life changer. If it wasn’t for them, my son and I wouldn’t have been able to create our own community as a family.”
Family Village Shelter
Family Village was the first shelter featuring trauma-informed design to open in Oregon. The design of our shelter provides opportunities for healing and rebuilding after experiencing homelessness partnered with a wide range of support to move families back into housing and stability.
If you are a family seeking shelter, please call 211 or text your zip code to 898211.
Our Family Village Shelter is available to families who are currently experiencing homelessness with children under 18 in their care. Access to Family Village is managed through 211.org.
While in shelter families receive:
Case management services
Emotional support
Assistance in finding and retaining permanent housing
Basic need resources
Access to adult education classes
Basic Income Guarantee
We are not accepting applications for the Cash Transfer program.
Worldwide research shows the fastest and most efficient way to alleviate poverty is to give people cash and allow them to manage their own household budgets. Path Home is building on this proven solution by piloting our own cash transfer program.
Participating families are supported by a Path Home case manager who helps to set goals for themselves and track their progress over the course of their cohort program. Each quarter, families participate in a survey to assess housing stability, income levels, and educational attainment, as well as intangible but crucial factors like a family’s quality of life and overall sense of wellness.
“I didn’t know how stressed out about money I was every single second of every single day - until all of a sudden I wasn’t. Now I have time to make the kids dinner and go to their school activities.”
